Urban BattlerNo more cable drama! This is a great little tester for pretty much any combo of USB cables,
very happy purchaser and saved me scarce cash not having to buy new cables,
and quickly trace and toss the faulty or suss ones.
This paid for itself within the first hour of going through many many cables collected and or orphaned over the years, putting them back into service with confidence, and or knowing that they are indeed working spares.
In addition to the comments above, may I add that in my case, some cable connectors had tarnish, dust and muck, and initial test readings were wonky and unreliable, leading me to believe that even known good working cables were faulty, especially if the cables were moved about whilst under test, or perhaps the tester had cheapo connectors.
What I did (and always do now) is brush off/dust off all cables connectors beforehand, and refresh them (lube up?) with Q-tips or cotton ear buds dipped in contact spray fluid.
This works a treat and even more so doing the same to the tester's connectors too, which now gives solid LED performance.
Basically speaking, if connector pins look dull and dusty and not clean and shiny, good luck getting a good reading with 'resistance filth' obstructing the tester electrons..
Now there is no doubt of the status of cables when moving them about slightly whilst connected to the tester, in real world usage test for breaks or shorts.
i.e. doing this may seem drawn out, but for me it means sitting down and doing it just once,
so less to no chance of dud readings, a surer way to confirm go or no go on cables,
having high confidence in the tester,
without finger crossing (or indulging in expletives..)
Think of the inconvenience, time blown and money wasted stuffing about with suspect cables, and having to buy new ones > been there.. $:(
Hey, maybe the phone or printer gadget or its connectors may be gulity, and it's great to know the cables are innocent, and you can troubleshoot from there.
I keep the tester in the original plastic bag and box package, and remove the battery till I need to test again.
Hope this gab bordering on TMI helps someone :)

Now I need to buy a decent cheap USB current tester,
or resort to skinning back an assortment of different USB cables so I can get a milliamp clamp meter jaw around the conductor/s whilst under load powering gadgets
James F.A gift for troubleshooting USB CablesI bought my treedix cable through amazon.com.
If you are like me you probably have a large carboard box full of assorted USB cables, a collection that goes back years and years. This tester lets me screen those cables with a quick go-no go indication that lets me see which cables are still relevant and useful, and which cables are no longer worth keeping. By having LED indicators on every wire, this cable tester performs all of it's cable continuity checks instantly. This configuration is a God-send for instantly spotting intermittent cables and/or connectors. I also really appreciate the low cost of the tester. Thank you for making this useful test equipment available at such a great price.
KmurrayReally useful, digital manual is availavbleSo far, this tester has really helped me sorting out various USB cables. For those looking for a digital copy of the manual, you can find it by clicking on 'Help' in the menu across the top of this page. Right now, it's number 9 in the list of downloads.
Gene LavielleUser ManualI have been retired for twenty years and have forgot a lot things, is there a user manual online for download ? The font size in your little pamphlet is too small for these old eyes, please let me know. Dont see anything on your website, Thanks
B BAlmost GreatTest board is good at identifying type of cable ( charging only, charge + data, shielded, etc ).
The only issue and it's kind of a big one, is the very basic nature of its connection test. If there's a short in the cable between two wires, there is no way to identify that using this board. This could inadvertently hurt you as a cable with data pins shorted to Vcc looks the same as a normal data cable. Took me a while to figure this out, and it's kind'of'a bummer.
Dirk RossbergMore detailed information In general I am very happy with this board. It works as promised, high quality, stable.
Even the manual meets 90% of my expectations and needs.
There are some more electrical test points on the board of which I couldn’t identify the purpose yet. As GND, CC1, CC2 and Shield are pretty obvious, I don’t know what S, G and ID are for.
Also it would be great if the specific type of the Vin connector would be given as there are a ton quite similar out there on the market.
As mentioned in previous comments a 3,5mm jack would be a great addition…
Other than that - I love it.
Brandon Great design, additional plugs for futureWorks great, but had to figure out a workaround for the TB2 cable I wanted to test. I routed it through a surface dock. Future update plug ideas: hdmi, display port, a way to check power cords that plug into wall. Thank you for your initiative in creating this.
mikeNeed to add aux cable tester in this yes, its works but usb A to usb A 3.0 missing.
and also add 3.5mm microphone speaker cable test function because we use to check a connection point.
also sent me a sample.
